Chapel — Veterans Services Day with Chaplain (Lieutenant Colonel) David Jordan.

This Veteran's Day Chapel emphasis will feature Chaplain (Lieutenant Colonel) David Jordan. His journey began after receiving a call from a chaplain recruiter in July 2006. After hearing of the Chaplain Candidate Program, Chaplain Jordan began the process of receiving a direct commission into the program and received that commission on December 19th, 2006. He attended Chaplain Basic Officer Leader Course (CHBOLC) in 2007 and 2008.

Upon completion of the Chaplain Candidate Program his first assignment as a qualified chaplain was with the 1st Battalion of the 279 Infantry Regiment beginning in April of 2010. He would deploy with this unit during the 2011-2012 deployment to eastern Afghanistan in support of Operation Enduring Freedom.

His next assignment was a two-year tour at National Guard Bureau from 2013-2015, where he served as the Personnel Readiness Chaplain for the Army National Guard Staff Chaplain.

Upon returning to the Oklahoma Army National Guard, he was briefly assigned to the 45th BSTB, before being assigned as the Deputy State Chaplain. Chaplain Jordan has served as Brigade Chaplain in each of the Major Subordinate Commands within the state and is currently in his fifth year as the 45th Infantry Brigade Combat Team Chaplain.

His military awards include the Combat Action Badge, Bronze Star, Meritorious Service Medal with 2 Oak Leaf clusters, and the Army Staff Identification Badge.

He is also Senior Pastor at New Beginnings Church in Shawnee, OK where he has also served as Youth and Worship Pastor since 2008.

He is a lifelong Shawnee resident, graduating from Shawnee High School and Oklahoma Baptist University. He received his Master of Divinity from Luther Rice University in Stonecrest, GA.

He is the son of the late Claude Jordan, and his mother Susan Jordan still resides in Shawnee. He has one brother, John Jordan.

He has been married to Dacia Jordan (also an OBU alum) for 25 years and they have two wonderful adult children, Will and Anna Jordan, who is a current student at OBU. We welcome Chaplain (Lieutenant Colonel) David Jordan to OBU Chapel!
